Anne-CatherineDalcq

Walloon Minister for Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Forests, Nature, Hunting and Fishing

In brief

Anne-Catherine Dalcq

Born in Namur in 1992, Anne-Catherine Dalcq grew up with farming as the thread running through her life. A bioengineer by training, she also holds a master's degree in agricultural sciences and a PhD in agrobiotechnology. A researcher and then a lecturer at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, she has always been committed to bringing scientific knowledge closer to realities on the ground.

In 2023, she took over the family farm in Saint-Jean-Geest, in the municipality of Jodoigne.

Her commitment to the farming world began much earlier, however, at the age of 17, within the Fédération des Jeunes Agriculteurs. She became its national vice-president, before also speaking up for young farmers at European level. During the farming protests of the winter of 2023-2024, her clear voice, rooted in the day-to-day reality of the profession, brought her to public attention. Approached by the Mouvement Réformateur, she stood in the Walloon elections of June 2024 and was elected in the district of Nivelles. On 15 July 2024, she became Walloon Minister for Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Nature, Hunting, Fishing and Forests.

A farmer, a scientist and a politician, she embodies a career built at the crossroads of the field, research and public commitment.
