The countdown has now begun! From 15 to 30 August 2026, athletes and hockey fans from all over the world will turn their eyes to Wavre for the Hockey World Cup. Belgium will host this large-scale event together with the Netherlands. It is a unique event in terms of format, ambition and scale of organisation.
Seeing the Hockey World Cup played here, in Wallonia, in 2026, is proof that nothing is impossible when a vision is carried forward collectively
We built this stadium despite the challenges, and today it stands as the symbol of a Wallonia capable of hosting global events, showcasing its talents and positioning itself as a true land of sporting excellence.
This is a strategic opportunity for our Region!
It's not just an economic investment, it's a model of success, visibility and influence. Thanks to the investment from the Walloon Region (€4.5 M) and the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (€1.6 M), this event shows that together we can rise above divisions and unite our strengths to fly Wallonia's colours high.
