Taxation and the economy

Paying what you owe, yes. One euro too much, no.

On the economic front, the MR wants to unleash the forces that create wealth: that wealth is the very foundation of our state and its social security system.

Growth

Administrative simplification, a more flexible labour market and a lower tax burden.

Competition

A determined referee that fights monopolies, dominant positions and conflicts of interest.

Work

A tax system that rewards work: no one should have to hand over more than half their pay to the state.

Your work must pay off for you

You get up in the morning and do your part. It is only normal that this shows at the end of the month. In Belgium, work is taxed, taxed far too heavily. Less tax on what you earn. No one should have to hand over more than half their pay to the state.

What you build is yours

A house, some savings, a shop or a family farm: these are years of effort. We want you to be able to keep them, and your children to inherit them without having to sell everything to pay the tax.

Daring to start a business means creating jobs here at home

Every shopkeeper, self-employed person or SME owner who takes the plunge creates work close to you. We want to help them invest and hire, not hold them back as soon as things go well. When a business grows, the whole of Wallonia gains.

Fair taxation, and a state that leads by example

Paying what you owe, yes. One euro too much, no. We want a simple tax system that treats you with respect, forgives honest mistakes and goes after the cheats. A state that first puts its own spending in order before asking those who work to make an effort.

Strong economic growth

On the economic front, the MR wants to unleash the forces that create wealth. That wealth is the very foundation of our state and its social security system.

To achieve this, we call for administrative simplification, a more flexible labour market and a lower tax burden.

Respect for healthy competition in an open market

In economic and financial terms, the Just Liberal State drives growth by freeing up business and work. In that spirit, it acts as the determined referee that ensures healthy competition in an open market, fighting monopolies, dominant positions and conflicts of interest, and tackling financialism and the excesses of international finance.
