The Wallonia-Brussels Federation selects its 80 elite athletes under contract with ADEPS

In the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, elite athletes (SHN) can benefit from an ADEPS contract guaranteeing them an income, social status and optimal training conditions to aim for the top of their discipline. This year's list of selected athletes reflects both excellence and the next generation: it brings together established profiles, including several recent medallists, as well as numerous promising talents with real potential to reach the highest level. « The Wallonia-Brussels Federation, through ADEPS, aims to be a solid partner for all our rising stars. While experienced athletes continue to benefit from these contracts (sometimes APE contracts designed for entirely different purposes), I am convinced that our mission is above all to offer a springboard to our talents so that they can then fly on their own wings. I want these contracts to allow our athletes to develop their full potential in complete serenity. It is also a way of showing them all our pride », says Jacqueline Galant, Minister of Sport.

A contract that includes rights… but also duties

Athletes are selected based on applications assessed against objective criteria of progression, performance and sporting prospects. To obtain an ADEPS contract, an athlete must be judged capable of reaching a world top 8, or a top 3 in para-sport disciplines.

The contract offers significant rights: support for preparation, access to facilities and coaching, and guidance in life planning. In return, it entails duties, including sporting commitment, compliance with ethical standards and contributing to promoting the image of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

« Granting these contracts means showing our talents that we believe in them. But I also want to remind them that these contracts confer rights… and duties. The Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and ADEPS in particular, must be able to count on each of you, especially to inspire, raise awareness and serve as an example for younger athletes », adds the Minister of Sport, addressing the SHN.
