Georges-Louis Bouchez was a guest on the programme QR Le Débat on RTBF on Wednesday evening to defend the line of the Arizona government and the MR against the left's lies. He recalled that this government is not even two years old, that it has been in office since 1 February 2025, and that reforms, particularly tax reforms, always take 2 to 3 years before they become tangible on citizens' tax returns.
Facing the left, he criticised a debate based on feelings rather than figures, recalling that wages were indexed by around 12% during the Ukraine crisis and that, in 14 months, major reforms were adopted: limiting unemployment benefits to two years, merging police zones, and extending nuclear power. He also defended the pension reform based on an insurance-style logic, the more you contribute, the more you receive, while advocating for more childcare places and employment support to concretely improve women's situation.
On public finances and social policy, Georges-Louis Bouchez criticised the surge in long-term sick leave, the poorly targeted benefits and subsidies (health insurance funds, trade unions, non-profit sector), and warned: Belgium is already among the most heavily taxed and indebted countries in Europe, and it is future generations who will pay the bill. His message is clear: let the Arizona government work, judge it on its results in 2029, not on slogans after 30 minutes of play.
