Cases of social fraud continue to damage trust in our system of solidarity. Recently, the example of a person on incapacity benefit who was working as a lawyer abroad illustrated the excesses of a system that has become too permissive. This kind of situation is unacceptable.
MR President and federal MP Georges-Louis Bouchez insisted during his speech in plenary session that social assistance must be intended for those who truly need it. Collective generosity cannot serve as a pretext for personal gain or abuse. Every euro diverted means less help for a family or a genuinely vulnerable person.
Fighting social fraud is essential to ensure the sustainability of our social model and preserve citizens' trust. To end these excesses, it is urgent to strengthen checks and systematically apply exemplary sanctions. This is a matter of fairness and respect towards all those who contribute to national solidarity.
The MR is committed to defending a fair, rigorous and efficient social system. Our priority is clear: protect the most vulnerable, but also ensure that everyone plays by the rules. Social fraud destroys the bond of trust between citizens and the state; it cannot be tolerated.
Together, let's keep building a society that is caring… but fair for everyone.
