The CPAS of the City of Brussels launched its various support actions against the cold this week, as temperatures dropped sharply in recent days.
“With the cold intensifying, support for the sector helping vulnerable people is a priority,” said CPAS chairman David Weytsman (MR) to the press. “We are acting on several levels”.
Regarding the Cold Weather Plan, David Weytsman explains that a request for 65,000 euros was submitted to the CoCom and a letter was sent to Minister Alain Maron (Ecolo). He also points out that the CPAS can help people in need in various ways: regular home visits in case of problems paying energy bills; difficulties leaving one's home or maintaining a sufficient indoor temperature; or finding a place to warm up and build social connections.
Finally, David Weytsman explains that the Roma Unit, which specialises in supporting the Roma community, is also operational to support children and parents from this community during winter.
