In concrete terms, rather than calculating working time week by week, the number of hours is now spread over the whole year. This is known as “accordion” schedules: employees work more during busy periods and less during quieter ones. SMEs in particular see this as a real breath of fresh air, allowing them to better adapt their staffing to periods of high demand.
