This Tuesday 5 March 2024 at 3.15pm, during a press conference, the President of the Mouvement Réformateur, Georges-Louis Bouchez, accompanied by David Leisterh, President of MR Brussels and lead candidate for Brussels at the Region, announced the arrival of a new candidate on the liberal lists, Youssef Handichi. The former PTB MP will be present on one of the Brussels lists.
A former FGTB union delegate and former Brussels MP as a member of the PTB, Youssef Handichi worked for 10 years at STIB.
He is joining the party following a path that may seem surprising from the outside but is in fact very logical, as the Mouvement Réformateur is the true workers' party. Youssef Handichi is convinced that the only answers to social issues are those championed by the liberal party, and intends to make a strong commitment on the socio-economic front.
"From the outside, this is a big change, but from the inside it's a logical step for a worker like me to turn to the MR in order to reward the value of work more fairly and effectively," says Youssef Handichi.
"This arrival is part of the dynamic of a deliberate strategy to be a great centre-right popular movement that speaks to workers, young people and employees," said Georges-Louis Bouchez.
"This is a message of hope sent to thousands of young Brussels residents who see him as a role model and who will, I hope, also understand that if we want to change the direction Brussels is taking, it is always time to choose the solutions put forward by the MR. We are reaching out to those who want to get around properly, work and start their own business," said David Leisterh.
