Belgium today announces that it is strengthening its offer of equipment to support France in the face of the terrible fires continuing in several regions.
Specifically, the additional capacities are being offered to the French authorities under the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, who may request them if they prove useful on the ground:
- 4 tanker trucks (10,000 to 12,000 litres);
- 1 tanker trailer of 28,000 litres.
The following equipment can be deployed with a Belgian command and support framework:
- 1 command vehicle;
- 2 pick-up trucks;
- 1 minibus;
- 1 Aluvan truck;
- 24 staff members, enabling a 24-hour service to be provided.
“Since the start of the crisis, we have been in constant contact with our French neighbours, offering them our full support. They can count on these additional Belgian capacities should they request them,” said Bernard Quintin, Minister of Security and the Interior.
As a reminder, it is the requesting state that selects the offers best suited to its operational needs.
NOTE TO EDITORS.
This additional offer is being made while ensuring that operational capacities are maintained to fight any forest and vegetation fires that could break out on our territory.
