In questioning the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Chamber, Georges-Louis Bouchez recalled that today's world is structured around a confrontation between the West and a Russian-Chinese bloc backed by regimes such as Iran's. For the MR President, it is no longer possible to maintain a naive stance: he fully takes on the task of defending our interests and those of the West, while part of the left spends more time downplaying or excusing the actions of our adversaries than protecting our fellow citizens.
Faced with Iranian interference and threats, Georges-Louis Bouchez calls for strong decisions: the expulsion of the Iranian diplomatic representation in Belgium and the strengthening of our domestic security. He advocates for a visible deployment of soldiers in public spaces to protect Belgians and send a clear message to regimes testing our weaknesses. Where the left still hid yesterday behind legal technicalities and a so-called “international mandate”, the liberals stand for firmness, clarity and political courage.
The debate on Iran actually reveals a fundamental divide: on one side, those who defend our allies, our values and our security; on the other, those who, in the name of a systematic anti-Westernism, end up diplomatically shielding regimes that directly threaten us. Georges-Louis Bouchez hammered this home in the chamber: the MR will always choose the West, freedom and the safety of Belgians, while the left keeps making excuses for our enemies.
