On Friday 14 February, the MR President visited Clémenceau station in Anderlecht to meet residents and police forces.
Only recently, shots were fired near this station, injuring one person. These incidents, linked to drug trafficking, and so many others, justifiably provoke residents' anger.
Their testimonies leave no room for doubt. “We're counting on you to clean up the neighbourhood”, “thank you for coming to support us”: phrases that reflect widespread frustration and a strong expectation of concrete change. Here, it is not the conventional talk of the well-meaning that matters, but the reality lived daily by citizens. A reality marked by insecurity, drug trafficking and criminal networks blighting the neighbourhood.
Unlike those responsible for this situation, the MR will not abandon residents. We do not give empty speeches, we are on the ground and we act. Zero tolerance is not a slogan, it is a firm commitment: strengthening police presence, dismantling criminal networks and restoring public order.
This fight will not be won in a day, but we will show no weakness in the face of crime. The MR is and remains the party of action, serving those who want a safer and fairer Belgium.
