During the RTBF QR debate on 3 April, amid the pre-election context, Valérie Glatigny steps up to defend the Paysage decree, passed in 2021, which is now being challenged.
With 70 days to go before the elections, she quickly puts an end to the rumours: students need calm, far removed from political debates.
The reform is already showing results: success rates up by 5 to 50% in some institutions. "We have the figures," retorts Valérie Glatigny to critics claiming otherwise, notably from the PTB, the FEF, and even the PS and Ecolo, which had nonetheless approved the decree. She expresses surprise at their about-turn, using arguments she considers baseless to attack a reform they supported only yesterday.
The goal? To help students succeed, and if necessary, redirect them early so they can excel. There's no disrespect towards students, Valérie Glatigny assures, but realism: this is the time to focus, with the June and September exam sessions in sight. "You can do it," she says, encouraging students to focus on revision for guaranteed success.
