This Thursday, Georges-Louis Bouchez speaks to the DH about the growing insecurity in Belgium, particularly in Brussels. For the MR President, drug trafficking and all its actors must be fought strictly and absolutely, starting with users.
In a society where security is a top priority for citizens, the Mouvement Réformateur is proposing strong measures to tackle the persistent and growing scourge of drug trafficking. With 21 shootings in Brussels since the start of the year and no accountability from Brussels authorities, the MR believes it is time to end the left-wing laxity that has plagued the capital for more than 20 years.
Based on proposals from a soon-to-be-published study by the Centre Jean Gol, Georges-Louis Bouchez presents the MR's action plan against trafficking and rising violence. He proposes a ban on gatherings or a curfew in risk areas. With this measure, the MR aims to restrict traffickers' activities and secure our neighbourhoods.
At the same time, tougher sentences for traffickers and criminal sanctions for users are needed to deter any involvement in the drug trade.
Finally, the MR President wants stronger checks at nightlife venues and a treatment option for addicts caught in the act, completing this action plan.
