For several days now, the MR President has been at the heart of the federal budget discussions. These discussions are taking time to conclude, widely commented on in the press, but this does not stem from a refusal to move forward, rather from a commitment to clear principles: sound management of public finances and the defence of citizens' purchasing power.
The President has reiterated: negotiations take place at the negotiating table, not through anonymous statements in the media. The MR is fully involved in these discussions, favouring dialogue and proposing concrete solutions to break the current political deadlock.
A key principle: cut spending, not raise taxes
The MR remains true to its line: in one of the most heavily taxed countries in the world, the priority cannot be to raise new taxes. The solution lies in cutting public spending and making better use of existing resources.
The reformers advocate a responsible and courageous approach: rewarding work, supporting those who contribute to society, and guaranteeing sound public finances for future generations. Every euro spent must be justified, because today's debts become tomorrow's taxes.
Dialogue and reform above all
Despite the disagreements and tensions, the MR is not giving up on dialogue. The party is ready to put forward new proposals and continue discussions in the coming weeks to reach a balanced and lasting agreement.
For the MR, true political courage means reforming, not taxing more. It is in this spirit that the party will continue to defend a serious, fair and forward-looking policy.
