This morning, Georges-Louis Bouchez was the guest of Fabrice Grosfilley on BX1's morning show. An opportunity to look back on this week's busy news.
On social reforms, the President denounced the alarmist rhetoric circulating in the public debate. “What I find less acceptable is that some, for partisan reasons, play on fears. Completely false information is being spread.” He recalled that our political role, at the MR, is to explain the reforms, not to give in to demagoguery. “The unions are not supporting these reforms, they are opposing them,” he further stated.
On the artist's status, Georges-Louis Bouchez was keen to point out that the MR initiated the work that began back in 2020: “We support artists. We want to get them off unemployment benefits. Today, under this status, they are treated as enhanced jobseekers.” He stressed the MR's determination to develop this status to better value these workers through a specific status, while maintaining their current rights.
On the political situation in Brussels, he confirmed that the idea of a minority government on the French-speaking side was well advanced. “We've been working on this for 10 months, we need to move forward! I don't see how else to do it.” He also recalled the importance of respecting the institutions and Dutch-speaking partners: “French speakers in this country need to stop treating Dutch speakers as negligible. Compared to others, I respect the institutions.”
Finally, regarding the conviction of Marine Le Pen, he stated: “The law is the same for everyone.” However, he expressed reservations about ineligibility sentences: “I am not in favour of ineligibility sentences. It is up to citizens to hold people accountable. Elected officials should be sentenced to penalties similar to those given to any other citizen.”
