In the Chamber of Representatives, Georges-Louis Bouchez, MR President, delivered a damning assessment of the situation in Brussels after two decades of left-wing governance. Between rampant insecurity, disastrous financial management and a lack of economic prospects, the time for denial is over.
“When the right loses an election, it stays quiet and goes to Parliament to do its job as opposition. The left, on the other hand, sets the streets on fire, creates chaos in society and blocks a region,” denounced the MR President. As Brussels sinks deeper into crisis, it is urgent to restore order.
The figures are damning: a bankrupt city, a poverty risk twice the national average and an explosion in crime. “You are more likely to witness a shooting than an economic recovery,” he further denounced.
For the MR, the time for petty political arrangements is over. Brussels needs a stable, effective government capable of making bold decisions. “The farce must stop. If nothing changes, Brussels will end up under supervision,” warned Georges-Louis Bouchez.
Respecting the electoral result is a cornerstone of democracy. Political change cannot be held hostage by a left clinging to its own failures. More than ever, the MR calls for rigorous, liberal management to put Brussels back on the path to prosperity.
