Deborah Gol, daughter of Jean Gol, delves into her own family's Jewish history in Liège in her book "Monsieur Magendavid est venu nous dire bonjour… Une histoire liégeoise. 1908-1945", co-written with Rosita Winkler.
Her family's arrival in Liège at the start of the 20th century, their integration into Belgian society, and then the Second World War.
This book is a tribute, a quest to understand the roots and resilience with which her family fought adversity.
The book reveals much about Jean Gol's development, his ideas, his career, his political values deeply rooted in his family heritage, his fight against the far right, and his commitment to the European Union.
To meet the book's authors, Deborah Gol and Rosita Winkler, a signing session is scheduled for Sunday 7 April from 1pm to 2pm at the Brussels Book Fair (stand 216 of independent publishers).
