Against a backdrop of painful news, with the tragic event in Lodelinsart, where special forces officers were the target of a dramatic shooting, it is time to seriously reflect on the state of our national security. These heroes, who risk their lives every day to protect us, deserve not only our unwavering support but also concrete action to improve their effectiveness and guarantee the safety of all citizens. Our President, Georges-Louis Bouchez, did not mince his words: the vermin undermining the foundations of our society must face a firm and immediate response. Zero tolerance is more than a necessity; it is imperative to restore order and respect for the law. This courageous stance reflects the Mouvement Réformateur's determination to fight all forms of crime that threaten our social cohesion.

Our proposals for stronger security

The MR's programme is based on a simple but alarming observation: insecurity and impunity are not vague feelings but a tangible reality for far too many of our fellow citizens. Despite their full commitment, the police and judicial actors face major obstacles: a lack of prevention, resources, speed in our courts, and severity in sentencing. We propose simple actions to strengthen security, a fundamental right. We are calling for:  

• Harsher sentences to reduce the risk of offending
• Immediate court appearances.
• Allocate more resources to the police and justice system for swift and effective action.
• Simplify judicial procedures to combat impunity.
• Improve control and management in prisons, particularly for the transfer of foreign inmates
