MR President Georges-Louis Bouchez paid a field visit on Friday 10 July to the Laiterie des Ardennes, at the heart of Wallonia's rural and agri-food economy, at the Libramont site. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the cooperative's directors for an in-depth discussion on the challenges facing the dairy sector, the pressure on production costs and the need for a stable and predictable policy for farmers.
During the discussion, Georges-Louis Bouchez reiterated the MR's commitment to defending strong, innovative and competitive agriculture, by focusing on local added value and support for cooperatives that invest in quality and employment. The dairy's managers were able to detail their development projects, industrial investments and efforts to guarantee fair pay for producers.
The meeting continued with a tour of the factory, an opportunity to discover first-hand the various stages of milk processing, from raw product to sale. On site, our President praised the teams' expertise and reaffirmed the MR's commitment to supporting this kind of key player in the Walloon economy, which combines local roots, industrial modernisation and job creation.
The Laiterie des Ardennes is a major dairy cooperative in Wallonia, based in the heart of the Ardennes, with several production sites such as Baudour and the historic Libramont site, which together employ several hundred workers. With thousands of member producers and a turnover of several hundred million euros, it has gradually established itself as a key player in the Belgian dairy sector, combining milk collection, processing and export through its subsidiaries.
