This Monday, 15 July, marked the end of the voting period for the internal presidential election of the Mouvement Réformateur. Georges-Louis Bouchez, the current MR President, was the sole candidate for his own succession. More than 10,000 MR members voted electronically from 8 to 15 July. The result? Georges-Louis Bouchez has been re-elected as leader of the Liberals for 5 years with a score of 95.76%. This is the highest score ever achieved by an MR President since the introduction of universal voting for all members of the Mouvement Réformateur.
On 24 June, the Mouvement Réformateur Council unanimously approved the organisation of elections for the presidency of the Mouvement Réformateur. The election was held for the first time exclusively electronically, under the supervision of Mr Quentin DEBRAY, bailiff in Brussels. It took place over one week, from Monday 8 July at 2:00pm to Monday 15 July at 8:00am. The Electoral Commission, chaired by Richard MILLER, today confirmed the re-election of Georges-Louis Bouchez. The results were announced today at the MR Council meeting.
On 28 November 2019, he was elected President of the Mouvement Réformateur with 62% of the vote. He thus became the youngest President ever to lead the Mouvement Réformateur. Under his leadership, numerous major projects and reforms were launched: the reform of the statutes, the composition of the various governments, the clear liberal line of the Réformateurs, and the historic 2024 victory that made the MR the leading francophone political force with 30%.
