This Monday 3 February, the President of the Mouvement Réformateur, Georges-Louis Bouchez, announced the names of the 4 new liberal ministers who will join Bart De Wever's government. Yesterday our major participation congress took place, with more than 1,000 members approving the MR's participation in the Arizona coalition.
Georges-Louis Bouchez: Holding high political office, such as that of party president, often forces your brain to fight against your desires.
Joining this government personally would have been an immense honour. But I must still help conclude the Brussels negotiations, ensure the proper implementation of government agreements at all levels of power, but also and above all carry a global societal project on behalf of the Mouvement Réformateur. As I have said in numerous interviews, I have made choices in what I believe to be the interest of the Country but also of the party that I carry in my heart.
This is why I am proposing the following individuals to the King:
- David Clarinval, whose experience as a business leader but also as a seasoned Deputy Prime Minister in the previous Government has all the qualities to lead the department where the greatest number of reforms is planned.
- Bernard Quintin, a diplomat and Brussels native, a civil servant, knows all the workings needed to reform the police for greater respect for our officers and a relentless fight against organised crime and delinquency.
- Eleonore Simonet, 27, will be the youngest member of the Government. A trained lawyer and polyglot, she achieved an impressive score in her first campaign in Brussels.
- Mathieu Bihet distinguished himself as a young MP by being one of the most active. He fought for the extension of nuclear power by tirelessly committing himself to the energy committee.
Very proud of this line-up and now, let's get to work!
Here are the new MR ministers who will make up the federal government:
- David Clarinval is appointed Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Employment and Economy and Agriculture
- Bernard Quintin is appointed Minister for Security and Home Affairs, in charge of Beliris
- Mathieu Bihet is appointed Minister for Energy
- Éléonore Simonet is appointed Minister for SMEs, Self-Employed and Middle Classes
