Georges-Louis Bouchez was the guest on Café sans filtre on LN24, the day after the MR's major congress in Walibi. The MR President highlighted the importance of the strong axis formed by the MR and the N-VA within the current government. It was also an opportunity to discuss the budgetary effort required.
In his remarks, Georges-Louis Bouchez stressed the need for a growth strategy for Europe, pointing out that over the past 20 years the continent has suffered from too weak growth. He noted that Europe's GDP now represents only 65% of US GDP, with industrial growth far lower than in the United States. For the MR, growth must once again become a priority: reducing the public deficit must be achieved by boosting overall wealth, not through new taxes, which remain a red line.
The MR President also puts forward reform ideas, in particular the use of artificial intelligence for certain functions carried out by health insurance funds, in order to optimise the reallocation of staff towards employment support. He laments the influence of health insurance funds on certain political parties, which is slowing down reforms, and points to the high level of levies and public spending in the country. For GLB, thought must be given to the child benefit system and the automatic indexation of public spending, in order to ease the burden on state finances.
