This Friday morning in Brussels, MR President Georges‑Louis Bouchez received representatives of the police unions at the MR headquarters, following their protest against certain reforms by the federal government, notably regarding pensions. According to the unions, the meeting was very constructive and led to clear commitments in favour of officers' purchasing power and end-of-career conditions.
Georges‑Louis Bouchez has committed to releasing the necessary funds to implement the second phase of the pay revaluation, which had not yet been budgeted, and to granting additional meal vouchers to boost officers' purchasing power. A timetable has been set with the aim of implementing these measures before the summer. In the same spirit, the current end-of-career procedure (NAPAP) will be maintained until an alternative deemed dignified and acceptable by officers on the ground has been developed, with discussions on this matter to continue from September.
For the MR, these advances are part of a consistent approach: defending workers' purchasing power, honouring commitments made to those who ensure everyone's safety, and reforming with them rather than against them.
