Questioned this Thursday in the Chamber by Deputy Prime Minister Pierre-Yves Dermagne, the President of the Mouvement Réformateur, Georges-Louis Bouchez, firmly reaffirmed the need to open new markets and continue the economic reforms undertaken by the government.
"I fully accept that we need new markets," said the MR President, highlighting the hypocrisy of part of the left on trade agreements. "Your party leader was laughing about Mercosur earlier… The same one who refused to sign CETA, before eventually doing so, allowing Wallonia to gain 2 billion euros in additional revenue."
Georges-Louis Bouchez also defended the measures in favour of purchasing power, recalling that the reforms so heavily criticised by the PS will allow many households to earn up to 500 euros more starting next year.
Finally, he concluded with a direct reply: "Mr Dermagne, it took you fifty years to lead Wallonia into bankruptcy. Give us at least a few months to turn the country around."
A frank and resolute intervention, true to the line of the Mouvement Réformateur: acting responsibly to restore work, prosperity and trust.
