Live from Brussels, the MR President was the guest of TV5 Monde's “Grand angle”. Connected with Paris, Georges-Louis Bouchez discussed the major challenges of the upcoming elections for Belgians and, more broadly, for Europeans.
“Yes, the MR is very close to Emmanuel Macron's party, whether on employment, security or nuclear energy!”
Georges-Louis Bouchez also revisited the composition and functioning of the current government, recalling that the executive had mostly had to manage crises rather than launch the major structural reforms the country needs.
“The PS is the real conservative party! The party doesn't want reforms to activate job seekers, no pension reforms, no reform of the civil service, for a very simple reason: the PS defends its electoral clientele.”
The MR President also pointed out that Belgium is the world champion when it comes to taxes on labour. Another opportunity to invite the left of this country to take part in a “tax-cutting cure”.
