After nearly fifteen years of commitment within the Mouvement Réformateur, she takes the helm of a group of eleven elected representatives, becoming the only woman to hold this position among the Council's six group leaders.
“I take on this responsibility with great pride and the determination to turn Brussels residents' expectations into concrete results. My goal will be to unite our group and contribute fully to a majority that acts and improves residents' daily lives. This means rigorous and responsible budget management, keeping expenditure under control, protecting purchasing power and directing investment towards useful and sustainable projects. It also means strengthening security in every neighbourhood, by supporting police and prevention services and tackling anti-social behaviour. Finally, we must concretely improve the cleanliness of public spaces, step up cleaning efforts and fight illegal dumping to guarantee a more pleasant living environment for everyone,” said Floriane Bonnier.
A former chief of staff, campaign director in the municipal elections and now a municipal councillor, Floriane Bonnier has been particularly involved in matters relating to the budget, security, mobility and good governance. At the head of the MR+ group, she intends to strengthen cohesion among elected representatives and pursue the group's priorities: rigorous budget management, enhanced security and a concrete improvement in cleanliness and quality of life.
David Weytsman, liberal leader in the City of Brussels and President of MR Brussels & Periphery, stresses: “I have known Floriane for many years and I look forward to working closely with her in the service of Brussels residents. Her experience, rigour and commitment will be valuable assets for our majority. Together, we will continue the reforms already underway with a single priority: achieving concrete results for residents. Our ambition is clear: to shake things up and build a safer, cleaner, more dynamic and better-managed City of Brussels.”
The President of MR City of Brussels and First Alderwoman, Florence Frelinx, adds: “I am delighted with the appointment of Floriane Bonnier to lead the MR+ group. Floriane combines two essential qualities in politics: she is a grassroots woman who listens to residents, but also a woman of substance, rigorous and deeply committed. Her experience as chief of staff has given her solid expertise. I am convinced she will be able to unite our group and defend a liberal vision for Brussels, the only one that will allow us to move efficiently towards a more beautiful, safer and cleaner city. She will contribute fully to a majority that acts, reforms and achieves concrete results in the service of Brussels residents.”
Finally, Floriane Bonnier thanks her colleagues for their trust. “I will carry out this role with humility, determination and a deep sense of collective spirit in order to defend MR+'s priorities and help build a safer, cleaner and more dynamic city.”
