This Thursday 3 April in the Chamber, Georges-Louis Bouchez made things clear: it is time to stop the petty political manoeuvring on a subject as essential as abortion.
For a few days now, a well-rehearsed duo, the PS and Ecolo, have been trying to stir up controversy by claiming urgency. But where were they when they were in power together? They had every opportunity to move this issue forward. They didn't!
What Georges-Louis Bouchez denounced is this well-known strategy: pretending today to defend a cause that was carefully avoided yesterday. Using women's rights to create a political incident is unworthy of the issue.
The MR, for its part, stands firm. Freedom to vote is guaranteed, that is a promise kept. And above all: the current government, with the MR, will achieve concrete progress. Not with slogans or posturing, but with responsible action.
This government will do what previous ones lacked the courage to do. Because fundamental rights deserve better than the petty political games some are indulging in today.
