The Government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation approves the reform of local media in first reading

After validating the outlines of the local media reform last July, the Government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation today approved, in first reading, the amendment to the SMA decree relating to the reform presented by the Minister for Media, Jacqueline Galant. Guided by the objectives of guaranteeing pluralism, budgetary rationalisation and the effectiveness of the public service, the Government has concretely translated the guidelines validated in July into its legal basis. In accordance with procedures, the consultation phase between the first and second readings has now begun. True to the consultative approach it has pursued for a year, the Minister for Media will also, on her own initiative, seek the opinion of the Local Media Network.
