Minister-President Adrien Dolimont, Deputy Prime Minister Pierre-Yves Jeholet and Minister for Airports Cécile Neven visited Gosselies this week, at the Sabena Engineering site, to see the future aircraft dismantling and recovery centre.
Led by Sabena Engineering and the Comet group, this industrial project will position Wallonia as a leading player in the circular aviation economy. With a total investment of €50 million, including €16 million from the Region, the site will be renovated and equipped with new hangars dedicated to dismantling.
The goal is clear: by 2030, to process between 30 and 50 aircraft per year, with parts and materials repaired, recycled or resold to extend their value and reduce the sector's environmental footprint.
Beyond technological innovation, the project is also part of a drive for employment and training: around a hundred direct jobs will be created and €2 million will be devoted to training future technicians, in partnership with Forem and the aeronautical skills centre WAN.
By supporting this project, the MR demonstrates its ability to combine industrial ambition, economic attractiveness and climate transition. A concrete realisation of our vision: a Wallonia that reindustrialises, trains its talent and innovates for the future.
