Sport
Without volunteers, there is no club and no youth teams.
Sport teaches commitment, respect and fair play, and it is good for your health. The MR wants every child to be able to play sport at school, every local club to thrive thanks to its volunteers, and our best athletes to have the means to aim for excellence. Public money must be well spent, and the private sector has its full part to play.
More sport at school and swimming lessons for every child.
Tax advantages for those who keep clubs alive.
Supporting our athletes and their coaches to aim high.
Sport from school onwards
Every child must be able to move and learn to swim. Swimming is a matter of safety, not just leisure, and pools are in short supply. We want more sport at school, affordable holiday courses, and school sports halls open to clubs outside lesson hours.
Clubs that survive thanks to their volunteers
Without volunteers, there is no club and no youth teams. We want to recognise them, not least through better tax advantages for those who give their time. Sport must also stay clean and respectful: zero tolerance for violence, racism, sexism and doping, including at amateur level.
Sport accessible to everyone
Whether you are 8 or 80, with or without a disability, everyone must be able to play sport close to home: adapted facilities, neighbourhood pitches open to all, affordable holiday courses. Equal reward for an equal victory, and more women's sport on television.
Supporting excellence
Great performances inspire people and make them want to take part. We want to support our athletes and their coaches so they can aim high, and so Wallonia and Brussels shine on the national and international stage.
Better organised sport, with public and private money
Today, sport is scattered across several levels of government, with heavy administrations. The MR wants a single point of contact for clubs, serious oversight of sports administration and fewer overlapping structures. Public money goes to quality projects. Companies, patronage and sponsorship must also be able to contribute.
