A free press, without pressure

Citizens can only vote well, choose well and form their own opinion if they have access to free information. For the MR, neither the political world nor economic powers should weigh on what journalists say. We must also ensure that mergers of press groups do not reduce the diversity of voices.

Freedom, but also responsibility

Press freedom has a counterpart: respect for professional ethics. A media outlet must correct its mistakes quickly, respect ethical standards and put the public interest before commercial interest. This applies to everyone who informs, including new online players. The faster information travels, the more it must be verified.

A useful, well-managed public broadcaster

The public broadcaster must fulfil its core missions: to inform, to educate and to keep culture alive. It must do so efficiently, making good use of public money. We reject both the status quo and dismantling. Resources must go to what is useful for democracy. The same logic applies to local media: guaranteeing pluralism while rationalising budgets.

Don't let the platforms decide what we listen to

A handful of digital giants hold the keys to what we see and hear. The MR wants everyone to keep free access to information, without depending on a subscription or an algorithm. That is why we want car radios to remain mandatory in every new car: people must be able to listen to the radio for free, without going through a private platform.
