Early childhood and youth
When a child is at risk, the response must be swift and coordinated.
A good start in life changes everything. The MR wants parents to find a childcare place without running from pillar to post, children in difficulty to be protected, and young people to be able to get involved and build their future. The State is there to protect, not to decide in place of families.
Priority for working parents and a single online waiting list.
One single minister and a swift response for children at risk.
Supporting youth centres and youth movements.
A childcare place, without the obstacle course
Finding a childcare place is a headache, and some parents stop working for lack of a solution. We want parents who are working or looking for work to have priority. A single online waiting list will spare them endless paperwork. Companies that help their employees with childcare must be encouraged, as must flexible solutions (micro-nurseries, drop-in centres, childminders).
Valuing those who care for our children
No childcare workers, no places. We want childcare professions to be better recognised and training to be more flexible, including work-study options, so that everyone can get started. Quality of care remains the priority.
Protecting children at risk
When a child is at risk, the response must be swift and coordinated. We want a single minister for early childhood, youth and youth welfare, rather than services passing the buck. We also want more family-based foster care rather than institutional care, stronger teams, support for young people leaving care at 18, and effective action against abuse.
Young people in charge of their future
Youth centres, youth movements, camps, civic engagement: this is where young people learn to organise, take responsibility and live together. We want to support them, make mental health care more accessible to young people and open schools during the holidays to host camps.
