Rural life
When a village loses its doctor, its school or its bank, the whole of local life fades away.
Living in the countryside is a life choice, not a handicap. The MR wants villages to have the same opportunities as cities: a doctor, a school, a cash machine, internet access and jobs. Because the countryside is not the city's backdrop: it is a place where people live, work and create.
Doctors, schools, cash machines and internet in the village.
Fewer obstacles for those who keep our countryside alive.
Projects that respect the landscape and listen to local people.
The same services as in the city
When a village loses its doctor, its school or its bank, the whole of local life fades away. We want to keep services close to home: doctors who set up practice, schools that do not close over one or two pupils, cash machines, internet for everyone, and buses linking villages to stations and to jobs.
Activity and jobs in the village
Shopkeepers, craftspeople, farmers and entrepreneurs keep our countryside alive. We must remove the obstacles in their way: less paperwork, simple rules for building or adapting land, and taxes that do not penalise those who have no alternative to the car.
Protecting our landscapes without putting them under glass
Our landscapes and our villages are part of who we are, and we want to preserve them. But the countryside is not a museum: people must be able to live, work and invest there. Projects such as wind turbines or solar panels must respect the landscape and listen to local residents, who know their area better than anyone.
