Adopting an animal is a commitment

Too many animals are bought on impulse and then abandoned. We want better information before purchase, identification for every animal and lessons for children, from school age, on how to treat animals properly. Anyone who abandons their animal should bear the cost, not the community.

Zero tolerance for those who mistreat animals

Those who harm animals must be checked and punished swiftly. We want a dedicated inspection team, real penalties for repeat offenders, and the power to ban anyone who has mistreated an animal from keeping another. The same rules must apply everywhere in the country.

Knowing what you eat

You have the right to know where the meat you buy comes from and how the animal was treated. We want clear labelling, and we support research into ways of reducing animal testing.

No slaughter without stunning, anywhere in Belgium

An animal must not suffer when it is slaughtered. The MR supports banning slaughter without stunning everywhere in Belgium. Wallonia and Flanders have already done so: Brussels must follow.
