Agriculture

Farmers belong in their fields, not buried under paperwork.

Agriculture feeds our country, keeps our countryside alive and secures an essential part of our sovereignty. Our priority is simple: allow farmers to make a decent living from their work, to produce here at home and to prepare for the future with confidence.

Produce at home

A strong, clear CAP that serves food sovereignty.

Making a living

Fairer prices and a stronger position in the food chain.

Innovate

Precision farming rather than bans.

Produce at home and make a living from your work

Eating is a basic need: Wallonia, Belgium and Europe must remain able to produce their own food. The MR stands for a strong, clear and properly funded CAP that serves food sovereignty, helps young farmers set up and keeps farms stable.

Without an income, there is no future for farming. The MR wants producers' work to be better rewarded, their place in the food chain strengthened and fairer prices defended. Our farmers are not asking for speeches: they are asking to be able to live from their work.

Less red tape, the same rules for everyone

The MR is working to simplify rules, cut red tape, modernise the administration and make checks more consistent: a priority at both Walloon and European level.

Our producers meet some of the most demanding standards in the world: the MR stands for mirror clauses, traceability and fair competition in trade agreements.

Preparing the next generation and protecting farmland

Farming must become a project for the future again: making it easier for young people to set up, to take over farms and to access finance and investment. Without young farmers, there will be no food sovereignty tomorrow.

Land is a farmer's primary working tool. The MR wants to protect farmland and make it easier for farmers to access, while fully respecting property rights, favouring legal certainty, dialogue and incentives rather than constraints.

Innovate rather than ban

The farming of tomorrow will not be built against science. The MR supports innovation, precision farming, new technologies and solutions that make it possible to produce better with less impact.

The MR refuses to set farming against the environment: farmers are key players in protecting soil, water and biodiversity. The transition must be pragmatic, supported and compatible with agriculture's primary mission: producing quality food.

Strong sectors, living countryside

From milk to sugar, from livestock to fruit, every sector counts. The MR wants to support outlets, give our products better recognition and open new markets where this strengthens our producers, such as the agreement secured to export Belgian apples to China.

Defending agriculture means defending rural life: a countryside where people can live, do business, invest and pass on what they have built. A strong Wallonia needs strong farmers who are respected and free to build the future.
