Neutrality oppresses no one: it guarantees the same rights for everyone and a calm, shared framework.
When you deal with the state, you are entitled to the same service as anyone else, whatever your beliefs. That is what neutrality means, and the MR wants it to apply clearly wherever the state acts. It takes nothing away from anyone: it protects everyone's freedom.

The neutrality of the state is a fundamental pillar of liberal democracy. It is the foundation of the social contract: the state must serve every citizen, without discrimination or favouritism. The MR has been defending this requirement for twenty years, aware that it underpins social cohesion and equality before the law.
The MR notes that this neutrality is still not applied consistently enough. It requires clear and uniform application in every sector: official education, the public service and public spaces. Official schools must not become places of proselytism. Public officials must embody this impartiality through their appearance and their conduct. Public spaces must remain neutral, with no favours granted to particular communities.
