SamuelD'Orazio
Mayor of Tubize (President of the Union of Walloon Cities and Municipalities from 6 October 2026)
In brief
A lawyer, Samuel D'Orazio is the son of trade unionist Roberto D'Orazio, a leading figure in the struggle for the Forges de Clabecq.
In 2006, heading his own list, “Démocratie et progrès social”, he joined the municipal council executive of Tubize as alderman for employment. He then joined the Mouvement Réformateur, for which he was elected municipal councillor in 2018.
As the MR's lead candidate in the October 2024 municipal elections in Tubize, a town of nearly thirty thousand inhabitants, he revitalised the local branch and campaigned on security, mobility, taxation and the value of work. Following the vote, he became Mayor of Tubize.
On 8 September 2026, the MR nominated him to chair the Union of Walloon Cities and Municipalities: he succeeds Rachel Sobry from 6 October 2026, with the ambition of making local realities heard where decisions are taken.
