Kanal's funding has been adjusted while guaranteeing the museum's opening in November 2026. With this future contemporary art centre, Brussels will gain a major new cultural venue, capable of attracting nearly 200,000 visitors and strengthening the capital's image both in Belgium and abroad.

Brussels is officially bidding to host the European Athletics Championships in 2030. This bid comes in a highly symbolic year: 200 years of Belgium, 100 years of the King Baudouin Stadium and 80 years since the first European Athletics Championships held in Brussels. A major event that would showcase our capital, bring citizens together around sport and strengthen the appeal of Brussels on the European stage.
