CarolineTaquin
Member of the Walloon Parliament · Member of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation
In brief
Born in 1977, Caroline Taquin trained as a primary school teacher. She entered politics in 2006 in Courcelles, a Hainaut municipality run by the PS for more than half a century. From 2010 to 2012 she also sat on the Hainaut provincial council.
In 2012 she put an end to that dominance and became mayor of Courcelles. She was re-elected in 2018 with an absolute majority, and again in 2024, with a list that gained further ground.
From 2019 to 2024 she sat in the Chamber of Representatives, where she was vice-chair of the Home Affairs Committee and worked on health and security issues.
Elected to the Walloon Parliament in June 2024, she is now a member of the Walloon Parliament and of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, while remaining mayor of Courcelles. Since November 2025 she has chaired the Walloon committee on equal opportunities for women and men.
